Further information about Glashuette Limburg:
"The time has come on September 20, 1947: The goldsmith and steel engraver
Heinrich Gantenbrink has produced the first wrought-iron crown for three
lamps, laying the cornerstone of the company's history. The success was huge.
Heinrich Gantenbrink had five employees at the end of
the year and was producing twenty different lamps in small series. Wall
lights, crowns, candlesticks - all made of wrought iron, but without electrical
installation and without packaging, brought to the customer in a handcart.
The number of employees increased to 50 very quickly. However, skilled manual
work alone is no longer sufficient to advance production. So 30 different
lights will soon be manufactured with the help of machines. For a while, the
company's work was illegal because of the de-industrialization policies of the
occupying powers. But then the production permit came from the English military
government. The first factory building was then built, the name
Glashuette Limburg is found, and at the industrial fair in Hannover there is the first
exhibition - at that time still in a tent.
the 1960 s:
There is a radical break with the traditional through the thorough
elaboration of new approaches in application technology and the fulfillment
of contemporary demands of architecture and environmental design.
World-class architects are increasingly considering the products.
At the end of the 1960s, the focus was increasingly on reducing the product to
its simplest form and achieving the highest level of utility. Not the lamp,
but the light becomes the central goal of our work.
A total of 27 Glashuette Limburg ( today : BEGA ) lights were awarded at the renowned IF design award for exemplary design by an international jury less
