A little about the fabric:
Classic Marly is a linen velvet, woven in four chains on intricate looms featuring a lush, all-over foliage design. The light relief effect is created by the different methods of treating the velvet, cut and uncut. The fabric is particularly suitable for upholstery. This velvet is inspired by the tapestries “verdure” of the period and named after Louis XIV’s preferred castle located near Paris. The landscape architect for Château de Marly had created paths through the woods lined by trellis’ in order to contain the exuberance of the robust trees that filled the grounds. Pulling inspiration from these wonderful woods and tapestries of the time, Colony created the beloved Marly design.
