A Danish Mid-century Modern cabinet made from Nordic oak. Manufactured in Denmark during the 1960s and often attributed to the renowned Danish designer Henning/Henry Kjærnulf. Kjærnulf is globally recognized for his unique fusion of Scandinavian Modern aesthetics with elements reminiscent of medieval, baroque, and even Viking styles. This design is occasionally referred to as "Danish Brutalist."
The cabinet stands on elegantly carved legs and remains in excellent original condition, displaying a gentle patina that is consistent with its age and use.
The wood specie is treated back in the time with acid. This process takes out humidity and leave the surface lighter and raw, with much richer and visible grain structure. Even though that the cabinet is big and heavy, it still feels slim and elegant. The squared dimensions of the item make it carm and warm in appearance. The 4 legs connected with and low beam gives a sence of strength and stability to it and brings the furniture together. The carvings in the doors and the legs toegther with the straight lines and squared design, gives it something interesting eye catching over it.
The dimensions of it is perfect for a beautiful living room. The length and depth is perfect in the sence, that it does not take up much space in the room. But still with a lot of storage in the cabinets. Pair this type of mid-century Danish design furniture up with other classical, art deco, Bauhaus or even art nouveau style.
Also a modern house would fit these types of furnitures. Concrete and glass housing would need a touch of the old items with more soul and atmosphere.
This furniture was sold in the well known shop Edmund Jørgensen Furnitures (dates back to 1942) in the south of Denmark.
