This pair of mid-19th Century American mantlepiece girandoles show a boy and girl in a bucolic setting with a leafy tree and fence. The boy has his hand on a nest. These were probably made by Cornelius & Sons. Made of gilded brass with an abundance of fine-cut crystal spears, known as frog drops, hanging from each candle base, these have been discretely wired for modern use; their look from the front is 100% original, with added hand-dripped resin candle sleeves to enhance their look. They stand about 15" tall without the bulbs. They sit on marble bases felted on the undersides. The marble is a bit scuffed.
