This beautiful antique classic library lamp is an eye-catching addition to any setting. It is ornate brass, with an etched glass shade made approximately 25 years ago by the old French Vianne Glass Company; pressed glass well for kerosene (you can buy smokeless kerosene); frosted glass chimney; and cut crystal icicles with jewels hanging from the brass shade rim and from the brass "smoke deflector" apparatus above. This lamp has not been electrified as we want to offer it in its original condition in case you want to use it in your "cabin in the woods." The fixture is 16" wide and can be set to various heights. At its shortest, the fixture is 30" tall; with a simple pull on the ring at the bottom of the fixture, it can be pulled down, extending an additional 30". It can then easily be recoiled upward to any chosen height (see the photo that shows the chain-reeling mechanism a the top of the fixture. Also note the B&H makers mark in the other photo that shows the hanging hook above the reeling mechanism.)
We believe this fixture was created by Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing Company in Connecticut, about which Richard E. Stamm for the Smithsonian Institution said "By the 1890s, the Bradley and Hubbard name was synonymous with high quality and artistic merit."
We can electrify it if that is your preferred use. Please contact us for details and cost of this process. We do professional light restorations as the main thrust of our business. less
