This magnificent fireplace insert, dating from 1930, is signed by a Breton watchmaker, more precisely Rennes.
It consists of a … more This magnificent fireplace insert, dating from 1930, is signed by a Breton watchmaker, more precisely Rennes.
It consists of a gilded bronze cartel richly carved with scrolls, foliage and plant elements.
The round enamel dial, graduated with hours in Roman numerals, is decorated with a country decoration representing a house on the edge of a river.
Two similar scenes frame the dial, adding to the elegance of the whole.
The cartel rests on a small openwork tray, also chiselled with friezes and patterns, creating perfect visual harmony.
This central piece is accompanied by two matching candelabras, each with four arms of light, including a central one.
The chalices and bobeches are meticulously crafted, while the shaft and base of each candlestick are enameled with decorations similar to those on the cartel.
This fireplace surround is an exquisite example of the Louis XV style, showcasing the craftsmanship and elegance of designs from this era.
