Water Bearers in the Desert is an artwork realized by Edouard Dufeu (1836-1900) during early 20th century. Good condition. Pencil and ink technique. Edouard Dufeu coming from a family originally from Egypt , Dufeu moved to Paris in 1860 and frequented the studio of Charles Gleyre . A pupil of Antoine Vollon , he exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1865 to 1890. He taught drawing in various municipal schools in Paris and then provided drawings for various newspapers. His production alternates between landscapes and still lifes. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
