Qing Dynasty, we believe to be early 20th century but buyer determines.
An great quality pair of Chinese famille Jaune covered jars with double sided painted dragons amongst flowers and shrubbery. These beautiful jars have been meticulously hand-painted with white, yellow, black, red, pink, and blue enamels and further highlighted in 24-karat gold. Throughout the jars are white enamel magnolia flowers as beautiful as ever, with soft flowing white chrysanthemum flowers, with hundreds of elongated petals. Each vase having two hand-painted dragons in red and grey enamel and flow throughout the majestic flowers and shrubbery. The juxtaposition between the dark dragons and white flowers on a beautiful Yellow background is truly a beauty. In the Chinese culture, dragons are a symbol of power, strength, and good fortune. On the other hand, the soft petals of the magnolia flower represent feminine sweetness and beauty, while the chrysanthemum is a symbol of autumn and the flower of the ninth moon.
