Description: Fresh from a New York City estate, we have a pleasure to offer you this RARE Original Swedish Made 20th … more Fresh from a New York City estate, we have a pleasure to offer you this RARE Original Swedish Made 20th Century ALVAR AALTO by Artek (for Pascoe) Stool / Bench. This baby is an original 1940's example of the early Mid-Century Modern direction the designs were taking. It is marked on the bottom "Made in Sweden", as well as each of the legs. During the World War II period Artek opened factories in neutral Sweden, where supplies were mostly available. There Artek produced slight variations on the classic, with slimmer legs, a round "solid" wooden top veneered with birch. American company Pascoe imported this rarely seen limited variation for U.S. market. This specimen shows nice color, sturdy construction, all screws below are present. It is in good overall condition, showing ample age / use wear (please see photos). Fully functional as an occasional stool, Plant stand pedestal, bedside table anywhere and everywhere. This is an original war period vintage 20th century made bench, stands large 15" x 15" diameter wide, and 17.75" seat height. Awesome piece that will go with any setting ! less
