This black-and-white photograph showcases the distinctive skyline of San Francisco as seen from the waterfront, likely captured during the 1960s. The image captures a series of high-rise buildings, with their varying heights and architectural designs, creating a silhouette against the hazy sky. The famous steep streets of the city rise dramatically toward the horizon, adding depth to the scene. Below, the city’s iconic piers and structures can be seen, with a vintage advertisement for the "West Coast" adding a touch of historical authenticity to the photo. The photograph evokes the timeless energy and unique topography that defines San Francisco. Erich Andres was born in Germany in 1905 and passed away in 1992. He began his career as a photographer in 1920 and was one of the first to use a Leica camera. Today, his work is exhibited in several museums, including the Civil War Museum in Salamanca, Spain, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Industrial Museum in Oberhausen, Germany. In 1951, Andres contributed to Edward Steichen's iconic exhibition "The Family of Man" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This print is available as a Fine Art Print on high-quality paper (Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta) and is produced by Whitewall. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
