The striking design … more The cantilever armchair "s35" is one of the most famous designs by marcel breuer (1902 - 1981). The striking design was presented for the first time in 1930 at the werkbund exhibition in paris, then under the original name “b35”. Marcel breuer was a german-american architect of austro-hungarian origins. He taught and taught at the bauhaus in dessau. Breuer is considered the inventor of the modern steel pipe. In the mid-1920s he designed a series of tubular steel furniture that was produced by his own company "standard möbel". From 1929, the austrian company thonet-mundus took over the production rights. A large number of breuer's designs are still produced and successfully sold today. Thonet only reintroduced the “s35” armchair with footstool to its range some time ago, after a break of several years. Our combination is therefore more recent and is in perfect condition. The chrome-plated metal frame shows no signs of wear. There are one or two fine traces of use on the thick parts made of buffalo leather. However, the leather has been professionally refinished and is in almost new condition. No open seams or other unusually strong signs of wear. No smells. The armrests made of solid and oiled walnut have also been refurbished and look more like new. Manufacturer's designations and control numbers on the bottom. Total length approx. 150cm.
