Elevate your space with this striking 19th-century French ceramic lavabo, a testament to both artistry and historical functionality. Traditionally used as a decorative water vessel for washing hands in grand homes and estates, lavabos were prized for their elegant forms and practical purpose before indoor plumbing became widespread.
This exquisite piece features a richly patinated glaze and regal fleur-de-lis accents, embodying classic French craftsmanship. The free-standing urn rests within its matching basin, though both can serve as individual decorative elements. While the spout is missing, it can easily be replaced to restore its full utility. The urn’s lid has undergone a rustic repair, adding to its character and storied past (see photos).
Weighing nearly 40 pounds, this lavabo is as substantial as it is beautiful—a true statement piece for any collection or interior. Dimensions: Urn, 14.5"L x 13"W x 22"H; Bowl, 16.5"L x 15"W x 4"H. Mounting hardware is not included.
