The piece appears to be early … more An extremely early and well executed carved wood, gesso and gilt eagle wall piece. The piece appears to be early 19th century and is definitely hand carved. The eagle has a small screw eye and more modern wire for hanging. The eagle appears have been meant to be used as a decorative item rather than being an element from another piece such as a mirror.
The gilt is more golden on color versus some of the washed out photos and has a great patina. There are elements of missing gilt and other wear to the piece.
