It was also one of his earliest lamp designs, appearing first in a magazine advert in 1961.

In the series Hammerborg masterly explored the visual contrast in light bouncing between matte and reflective surfaces, setting an example in elegant Scandinavian Space Age minimalism by creating an iconic, timeless light sculpture that's part of the Danish mid-century modern design canon.

Made of solid copper, the Tunika measures 25 cm in height and 17.5 cm in diameter, and has a spun copper exterior on the inner cylinder which picks up and amplifies the matte orange interior of the outer cylinder. The lamp takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb max 75w (not supplied) and is in excellent condition with very minimal patination to the spun copper commensurate with the lamp's age (see photos).
