OK, this is a truly unusual and special piece of furniture. The former owners who were extremely wealthy Westchester, NY residents, hired the illustrious first bronze foundry of New York, P.E. Guerin to make the best and most delicate bronze ormolu for a piece that was commissioned to copy and antique piece they loved but was not obtainable to them. They went to a French cabinetmaker and had Guerin make the mounts for this specific piece. This shows intention and attention to detail by these extremely fastidious customers. The descendants inherited the piece and moved to Palm Beach Florida and changed their style to suite their new decor. The piece is in good antique condition and has few signs of age and wear except for the most minor. The commode dates to the 1920s era and is a true, one-of-a-kind testament of both American and French craftsmanship.
