Plate 1: Maritime England plate No. 1 shows The Glorious First of June 1794. This plate depicts Lord Howe's dismasted flagship, the Queen Charlotte, flanked by French warships after the battle on June 1st 1794. Produced with the approval of the National Maritime Museum, this edition is limited to two thousand plates and this one is number 845. Plate 2: The Maritime England plates No. 2, The Battle of the Nile, 1798. This plate depicts the explosion of Admiral de Bruey's flagship L'Orient at the Battle of the Nile, flanked by HMS Swiftsure to the left and HMS Alexander to the right. Produced with the approval of the National Maritime Museum, this edition is limited to two thousand plates, of which this is number 875. Backstamp: "Spode, Fine Bone China, England. Please see photos for the story of each plate. Measurements for these fabulous creations: Diameter 9-1/4 inches. This marvelous pair of 2 ship's plates have been well cared for, gently displayed and are in excellent vintage condition, free from chips, cracks or other imperfections.
