Made with hand-knotted wool in Turkey circa 1960-1970, this 5x8 vintage rug is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s Mid-Century Pasha Collection—a line of our classics devoted to works believed to hail from Turkish multidisciplinary artist Zeki Müren.
On the Design:
Polychromatic diamond patterns, mosaic-like in their beauty, are underscored by traditional umber tones—one of the unexpected marriages of old-world and mid-century modern elements that made works like this from Müren so unique in their period. The interconnected diamond patterns create symmetry of a geometric design—further lending a gorgeous movement to the piece. This special rug features playful and traditional elements that speaks to Müren as an eclectic designer and marks his rugs distinct in his period. Connoisseurs may admire the playful sense of movement and the transitional, almost modern sense of life this piece breathes into more traditional patterns.
