We didn't realize it until it came time to clean it up for this listing, but somewhere along the way it has been refinished. From a couple feet away, the sink looks excellent, but the refinishing was done so long ago that the surface is not as shiny as it once was and has rough spots in areas. We decided to list it as it looks nice with very little corrosion for the age, and is usable. It can be used as it is, but it is a good candidate for another coat of a product that is sold at most any hardware store and on-line that makes it look about new and will last for years. Top to bottom (accounting for finish condition mentioned above): The original "Sterling" faucets and stopper open/close rod were not removed from the sink, as we do with most, as they function properly and aside from some discoloration, the chrome is in good condition. The horizontal surface in back of and around the bowl is in good shape with no chips found, and the inside of the bowl is fine down to the bottom where there are a (very) few small chips. The sides are good and the water overflow grate area is relatively rust free. The outside (front, sides & back) are all very good, with only some minimal chipping at the bottom edges. The underside of the sink is better than average for the age, with just a very little surface rust present, and the pipe and drain parts look good. The pedestal is virtually spotless down to the bottom edges, where there are small chips that have been painted to help blend them in. Normally, painting a sink does not work over time, but the bottom edge doesn't get wet or even touched once the sink is installed. The manufacturer is unknown. All we could come up with is a manufacture date of 1933 and a logo that is a circled "R". less
