Wishes painted on the pomegranates, peaches and citrons, symbols of eternity, fertility and buddha's gentle watch, express hope for a long and happy marriage, healthy children, wisdom and eternal happiness. The goldenrod is an unusual color for furniture of the era so was likely commissioned specifically for a certain family to be used as an ancestral altar.
