Pupil of Charles-François DAUBIGNY from 1855, the pictorial style of Hippolyte-Camille DELPY will be strongly influenced by the master of the Barbizon school.
The work we are selling is a seascape, a theme rarely painted by DELPY and highly sought after by collectors.
Painted in Holland, this impressionist-style composition features sailboats at sea, windmills in the background.
It would be the painting "Environs de Dordrecht" sold on May 26, 1884 under the number 44 during a sale of paintings by DELPY (the subject and the dimensions correspond perfectly).
His works are present in museums all over the world: Phoenix art museum, Louviers museum, Béziers museum...
He obviously benefits from important quotations, up to 30,000 euros in public sales, regularly between 10,000 and 15 000 euros for his best subjects.
DELPY seascapes are very rarely found on the art market, this is an opportunity not to be missed !!
