This 4x9 rug is a new addition to the flatweaves in Rug & Kilim’s award-winning Scandinavian rug collection. Made with handwoven wool and all-natural yarns, its design is inspired by mid-century Swedish minimalist and Art Deco rug and textile designs of the Rollakhan and Rya weaving traditions.
On the Design:
Rows of stripes and geometric patterns enjoy warm tones of gold, brown and gray in the rich, smart aura of this piece. Admirers of the craft may also note the blend of natural yarns complementing the varied hues with a striated look—a proprietary technique of ours both innovates and honors mid-century weaving techniques inherent to Scandinavian style. This, alongside several elements detailed here, represent R&K Principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal’s hope to honor this mid-century modern aesthetic. This Scandinavian Collection is a contribution to that style, and a renaissance for its designs with more comfortable, current techniques. less
