The pop detail is the oversized lift knob on the lid, also lacquered goatskin. The lid fits tautly in the rim. The handle and lid have a beautiful patina, and the lacquered goatskin shows signs of age appropriate darkening. The inside is lined with its original black plastic liner bucket. Original sticker on wood base.

Aldo Tura (1909-1963) was an Italian designer who began his furniture manufacturing house in Lombardy in 1939. His work bridged Art Deco and Modernism, and Tura created unique and luxury furniture and accessories characterized by rich materials, sculptural forms, and exclusive craft techniques. During the post WW2 period, many Italian designers aimed to mass produce items to feed global consumer needs. Tura rejected this direction and dedicated his work to artisanal crafted pieces, which would have been impossible to mass produce, as such Tura's works have become highly collectible, especially pieces with exotic finishes, such as goatskin and parchment, in bright red, green and yellow color ranges.
