- You probably know Ronson as the company that makes lighters, but back in the 20's and 30's they made cast … more You probably know Ronson as the company that makes lighters, but back in the 20's and 30's they made cast iron and cast bronze objects. This pair of elephant bookends is one of their early creations. The highly-detailed castings have their original claret red paint with golden yellow tusks perched on faux marble iron plinth bases. They have naturalistic poses and are quite heavy, certain to keep your books in place. There is paint loss to the tusks and minor chips elsewhere--to be expected since they are almost 100 years old. It just adds to the character. They have their original felt cushions on the base and one retains its original label from the maker. A beautiful pair to grace any library. less
