This distinctive and intriguing French glazed ceramic bowl features a low, round shape with a slightly raised base. The red star pattern, repeated against a white background, creates a pleasing color contrast. The bowl was crafted in the Art Deco style between 1930 and 1935 in a small workshop in the Lunévillois region of France. Its exceptional craftsmanship is part of a centuries-old tradition that began in the 18th century, in the same area where the renowned Saint Clément factory is located. It is therefore natural that local artisans skillfully and successfully employ the same techniques used by the main factory. The manufacturing process is both unique and complex. The raw ceramic piece is first shaped into its final, soft, and elegant form, then fired at approximately 1,000°C. Following this, the traditional glazing technique, where the object is immersed in red glaze, is applied. This step requires significant expertise, as it is crucial that the glaze coats the surface evenly. After an initial firing to set the color, the artisan applies a special, secret technique to achieve the stunning white glaze, reminiscent of freshly applied icing. A second firing gives the piece its final, original appearance. Items produced by Saint Clément and the surrounding workshops are always unique, crafted with refined skill and precision, and are known for their high quality in extremely limited editions. The bowl is in good condition. Its dimensions are: diameter 33 cm, height 4 cm. For all our shipments, we use specialized packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the items. less
