‘My Funny Valentine’ is part of a series of two- and three-dimensional paintings, sculptures, installations, and works of art that reflect my fascination with structures both fixed and ephemeral. Made from recycled plastic, it’s an invitation to explore the potential of discarded objects to be turned into things of beauty, as well as a connection to the beauty of repetitive work in the creation of our own material and textures. I chose plastic as my medium for its unique malleability, connection to our complex relationship with materials, and translucent nature that evokes an undulating spatial concept.
