The entire piece if constructed from the finest quality quartersawn white oak, also referred to as tiger oak, available anywhere. The upper chair frame, lower swivel chair base, and original mechanism baring the mark of The Johnson Chair Company are all in excellent condition without any concerns whatsoever. The crest of the chair, left and right chair uprights, and six back supports are all curved to conform to the back of whomever is sitting in the chair. The degree of craftsmanship and comfort displayed by this design is superior to nearly all other desk chairs of this era. Every feature of the chair is designed for comfort including the shaped saddle seat. The chair has perhaps the most desirable finish and color possibly found on an oak desk chair from this time frame with the color having developed a beautiful luster and depth over many years. For any collector seeking the finest antique office chair with respect to quality and value this offering is without question the best option out there.
