Henri Fehr was born in 1890 and died in Geneva in 1974. Genevan painter and graphic designer.
After drawing lessons and two years of engineering apprenticeship, he studied at the Beaux-Arts and at the School of Industrial Arts in Geneva, then at the Julian Academy in Paris.
Marked by Art Deco, he painted numerous landscapes and animated scenes. He is also working on the fresco of the choir of the Thonex church.
Influenced by Cubism, he produced a series of magnificent posters which are masterpieces of the Art Deco period.
This painting depicts an intimate scene in which a young woman carefully applies lipstick in front of a mirror. The artist skilfully captures the precise moment when the reflection plays a central role, creating a duality between the real world and its mirror. The soft, pastel hues, dominated by shades of pink and brown, create an atmosphere of calm and concentration. The subtle yet effective play of light accentuates the subject's delicate features, while the mirror frames a balanced, refined composition. The slightly blurred flowers in the lower left add a touch of romanticism and delicacy, reinforcing the feeling of femininity and grace. This painting stands out for its introspective exploration of the everyday moment, transforming a banal gesture into a scene imbued with poetry and reflection. This piece has an attribution mark,
