This 'Papilio' (butterfly) end table comes from the 'Nuova Alchimia' series created by Alessandro Mendini in the 1980s for Zanotta. It is a stunning sculptural piece with 2 layers of floating butterfly shaped glass on 3 elegant anodized aluminum legs. Gorgeously made in Italy for Zanotta. Delicate, ethereal and unusual. Because it is glass, it visually does not take up space. The movement of light reflection in the glass is reminiscent of moving butterfly wings.
Measures H- 18" (46 cm) x W- 26" (66 cm) x D - 26" (66 cm)
100% Authentic Zanotta piece. Currently collector's item and not in production. These routinely sell for over $1000 each plus 30-35% fees at auctions and are quickly snapped up despite dings/scratches and other signs of use. And well over $2000 on resale sites.
This one is BRAND NEW with its designer label (which I have yet to see available for sale!) in perfect new condition.
Zanotta is one of the best known contemporary interior design brand and is on par with other well-known luxury furniture makers, including Ligne Roset, Roche Bobois, Poliform, Cassina, B and B Italia, Molteni, Vitra, etc.
The black anodized aluminum legs and simple modern lines evoke a similar simple, natural aesthetic. Impossible to find and a definite collector’s item you won’t be seeing in other homes!
