An architect-turned-furniture-designer, Adrian Pearsall was a creator whose pieces embodied Atomic Age design. From small beginnings, Pearsall was born in 1925 in New York and educated at the University of Illinois as an architectural engineer.
In 1952, he created his manufacturing brand Craft Associates with his wife and brother, and thus began his foray into furniture design. Pearsall’s pieces were soon sought after, and his use of walnut wood became hugely popular in the late 1950s. Pearsall is also credited with creation of the low gondola sofa and the popularization of the beanbag chair. less
