Some paint compromise on the decorative band. The bakelite is in excellent condition, as are the sides of the box (the chrome just about like new). Some evidence of "atmospheric debris" on the top, slightly compromising the chrome finish. As you can see each end of the box itself has a slight fissure in the joint.

The interior shows stains and whatnot; there probably was a wooden lining which is long-gone.

In any event, a highly decorative and useful box reflecting the streamlined Art Deco sensibility.
