In 1985, to commemorate the 200th birthday anniversary of John James Audubon, the National Audubon Society together with the Abbeville Press issued a full facsimile of the double elephant folio The Birds of America using very fine quality color offset lithography (thus these prints show the characteristic dot-matrix pattern of offset lithography when examined with a 10x or 15x magnification loupe), on 100% acid free paper.
Commonly known as the Abbeville Edition, these prints are known for the exceptional quality of the images. The Abbeville edition is only the second full facsimile set of The Birds of America, after the Amsterdam edition. Only 350 sets were ever published.
These prints carry the watermark “Audubon Society Abbeville Press” and a bird image along the long edges. These are LARGE - the full sheets measure approximately 39.5” x 26.5.”
These prints have never have never been displayed or framed. Some have small insignificant foxing or marks that were conveyed from the original plates. Examine photos carefully.
All prints will be shipped rolled in a mailing tube.
