Bruce Mishell is an American painter who established his own unique style amidst influences from
Impressionism, Fauvism and Abstract Expressionism. Born in Coney Island, New York. Bruce
frequented NYC museums with his Dad as a child and was inspired by the works of Miro, Van Gough,
Picasso, Chagall and many of the Mid-Century artists.
Bruce studied painting & ceramics at College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University in Northern California. His early watercolor paintings featured landscapes inspired by the lush Redwood forest and the Pacific Ocean.
After College Bruce lived in SanFrancisco and Los Angeles in the 80’s where he opened painting and ceramic studios and showed his work in local restaurants , corporations and galleries.Bruce returned to NYC in 1990 where he founded and managed a successful Interior design company and continued to paint and create his own style of free flowing abstract creations. “ I paint for my well-being and to inspire and evoke happiness to the world at large.
He has been exhibiting and selling his work in New York, California and Florida.
In 2015 Bruce founded Magic Hill Gallery in Hudson and Kingston NY where he exhibits and sells his art. less
