Meta Plückebaum was born as Meta Weber in Dortmund. In Düsseldorf she received private art lessons from the painter Hermann Emil Pohle. There she was also one of the first members of the Düsseldorf Artists Association, founded in 1911. When she then stayed in Munich and was in Schwabing's artistic circles, she met the genre painter and etcher Carl Plückebaum. They became a couple and got married. They lived and worked together in Düsseldorf, where she and her husband had a shared studio on Bismarckstrasse, was one of the well-known artists in the art scene and was a member of the Malkasten artists' association. She died in Düsseldorf at the age of 68 and was buried in the Nordfriedhof.

Plückebaum painted, drew and etched primarily lovely cat, puppy and flower motifs, which are still very popular today, not only in Europe but also in the United States. This success led to commissions to illustrate children's books. Her work also includes portraits of children. Her painting Summer Flowers was exhibited at the Great German Art Exhibition in the House of German Art in Munich in 1939. This piece has an attribution mark,
