Stunningly realistic vintage German Shepherd sculpture. This exceptionally well crafted dog is rendered in terra cotta with a beautiful hand-painted and glazed finish. The radiant dog flashes a friendly grin with his tongue dangling. It’s as if he’s sitting there waiting to be pet of fed. His fur, facial features, paws, and body virtually come to life with the masterful painting. The the sculpture is 26.5 inches tall… a little more than the life-size withers height of a typical German Shepherd. The sculpture is finished in the round. It would like perfect seated on the floor or atop a counter or pedestal. The dog is unmarked, but our research suggest it dates from the early 20th Century, around the 1920s. The date has not been confirmed.
