About The Poster: In the early 1920's printing companies liked to show off the precision of their presses by inviting illustrators and artists to create intricate images the they could reproduce. This is the result of one such mandate, and from our perspective a striking success.
About Honoré de Balzac: Originally named Honoré Balssa, (1799-1850), was a French literary artist who produced a vast number of novels and short stories collectively called La Comédie humaine (The Human Comedy). He helped to establish the traditional form of the novel and is generally considered to be one of the greatest novelists of all time.
