This painting by Boris Major depicts a serene Venetian canal scene with gondolas moored near rustic buildings. The architecture features warm, earthy tones, with worn stone walls and red-tiled roofs that evoke the historic charm of Venice. A lone figure stands near the water, adding a sense of quiet daily life to the scene. In the distance, smaller boats and a bell tower are visible, enhancing the depth and perspective of the composition.
The water reflects the buildings and boats, with a gentle ripple effect that adds realism. The light is soft and diffused, creating a calm atmosphere that captures the beauty of Venice’s canals at dusk or dawn. The painting’s muted color palette and intricate details in the textures of the buildings and water surface make it an evocative and timeless portrayal of Venetian life. The work is professionally framed in a classic, understated gold frame that complements the traditional style of the scene.
Signed in the lower-right corner B.Major.
Condition: The painting is in good condition, has some stable craquelures due to age. The frame has some minor scuffs.
Framed measures 28" x 19.5", Painting 24" x 16".
