This rare vintage Early 1950's Art Deco style Paint by Number " Pink Flamingo " custom framed painting is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Mid Century Modern original vintage painting is created in The Early 1950's by an unknown artist. The painting on canvas board was made using an authentic vintage Paint by Number kit. It features a beautiful Art Deco style image of a pink flamingo poised in a lush lagoon setting in a gorgeous multicolor vintage palette.
Paint by Number kits are self-contained painting sets, designed to facilitate painting a pre-designed image. The set includes brushes, tubs of paint with numbered labels, and a canvas board printed with borders and numbers. The painter selects the color corresponding to one of the numbers then uses it to fill in a delineated section on the canvas board, in a manner similar to a coloring book.
The kits technique first patent was filed in 1923, and were invented, developed and marketed beginning in 1950 by Max S. Klein, an engineer and owner of The Palmer Paint Company in Detroit, Michigan. The overwhelming public response induced other companies to produce their versions of Paint by Number. The Palmer Paint Company Paint by Number archive now resides in the collection of The Smithsonian Museum of American History. Several early designs for Paint by Number by Max Klein are included in The Department of Architecture and Design Collection of The Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Paint by Number artworks are an emblematic keepsake of The Mid Century Modern art movement and American cultural oeuvre of new creative design and decoration of The Twentieth Century.
The rare vintage Paint by Number framed painting measures 13 1/4" W X 17 1/4" H X 7/8" D. it is custom framed in a Contemporary Modern Venetian sky blue matte eggshell finish wood frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The painting on canvas board is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and very light minor wear. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
