Provenance: from the estate of Lloyd Herman, founding director of the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Renwick purchased the paintings from the 2009 Sotheby’s London auction of the contents of Versace’s mansion on Lake Como (Italy), Villa Fontanelle.
Photos two and three with Gianni and Donatella Versace were shot at Villa Fontanelle by Evelyn Hofer for Vanity Fair (the paintings are circled).
