This beautiful figure is of a Marquise, who was married to a marquis, a title of nobility and shows her getting ready for the big ball, with a small table, topped by a jewelry box nearby. A lovely gold metal beaded necklace is held gently. The plaque on the front reads: "Marquise Par Grisard." There is a foundry label stamped on the skirt that reads: " Fabrication Francaise, Made in France" and the artist' signature "Grisard."
This beautiful figure was most likely made in the later 19th/early 20th Century. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Height from top to bottom=13 inches, Base diameter=7 inches. This marvelous 17th Century style figurine has been well cared for, gently displayed and is in excellent vintage condition, free from chips, cracks, scratches or other imperfections.
