This stunning vintage Murano Art Glass centerpiece bowl is a true masterpiece of Italian craftsmanship. Hand-blown by skilled artisans, the bowl measures a generous 16 inches in diameter and features the iconic Millefiori technique, which translates to "a thousand flowers" in Italian. The vibrant, multi-colored pattern within the glass evokes the beauty of abstract floral motifs, each piece individually created by fusing glass canes to create intricate, radiant designs. Scattered throughout the piece are delicate 24k gold flecks created using the Avventurina Venetian Murano glass-making technique.
The shape of the bowl is equally captivating, with one side gently rising and folding over like a graceful wave about to crash, capturing a dynamic, fluid sense of movement in the glass. It’s a striking fusion of artistry and craftsmanship, perfect for displaying in any setting.
At the heart of this exquisite bowl rests a Mid-Century Royal Copenhagen porcelain figurine of the iconic Little Mermaid, designed by Edvard Eriksen, the sculptor behind the famous bronze statue located in Copenhagen's Tivoli Gardens. The figurine stands 4.75 x 4 x 2.5 inches and captures the mermaid at a poignant moment of transformation. She sits on a rock, her long, flowing hair cascading down her back in soft waves, while her legs are almost fully formed—except for her feet, where the remnants of her fins still persist. With a longing gaze toward the land she yearns to join, she clutches a light green fabric in her hand, symbolic of of what she will wear once her transformation is complete.
Together, the Murano glass bowl and the Royal Copenhagen figurine create a harmonious and evocative tableau, blending the delicate beauty of Italian glass with the timeless elegance of Danish porcelain, making this a truly unique and enchanting centerpiece for any collectio less
