Originally produced in colorful Anodized Aluminum in 1983, these Gerhard Herbst Midcentury Style earrings transitioned into its silver version in 1986 and was continually produced until about 1989. One of the more popular designs of the period this piece originally Measuring 2’’ in length however underwent a slight size reduction in 1988 to 1 7/8’’ and remained that size until it was discontinued in late 1989. This piece weighs 7 grams and is fitted with surgical steel post and large sterling silver backs.

Modernist designer, Gerhard Herbst translates sculptural form into the jewelry medium. Popularly known for his spatial shapes and fluid manipulations of metal, Herbst began producing his unique style of jewelry in 1975. Herbst then continued to study both sculpture and jewelry design at San Diego State University, and upon graduating he established his jewelry studio in Ocean Beach California. Adopting a wholesale manufacturing business model, Herbst would reproduce designs which he would then sell to leading Museum shops and galleries throughout the United States.
