These handsome chairs have distinctive leather to the backs which is probably of late seventeenth/early eighteenth century date and salvaged from a former set of seat furniture in distressed condition. Hence the tidy and unworn chair frames/supports. There was a revival of interest in early furniture styles during the nineteenth century and it was not unusual for this form of workshop attention at that time.
