History of Jean Touret:
Young student graduated from the Fine Arts in Paris, Jean Touret was taken prisoner during the Second World War. He is sent to southern Germany, in the wooded mountains of Herzgebirge, where he works as a Bucheron. He discovers there the rustic life of peasants, the nature and the work of wood. On his return to France, animated by a new philosophy of life he leaves Paris and follows his friend, the painter Maurice Rocher to settle in Marolles a very small village near Blois. He became friends with the village carpenter, Emile Leroy, and meets 3 other craftsmen (a ferronier, Henri Vion, a Vannier, Edmond Le Flohic, and a potter, Manuel Gold) with whom he will create a craft cooperative. The founding utopia of Jean Touret, motivated by the rejection of taste generalized in the 1950s for standardized furniture, manufactured in industrial materials, forgetful of traditional knowledge knowledge, is to create a production association of furniture and decorative objects By associating know-how. Its ambition to develop a simple, noble and contemporary aesthetic, while preserving the archetypal forms of rustic furniture, was born. The success will follow. In 1964, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting and left the artistic direction of the group of "Artisans of Marolles and Loir and Cher" which became "Crafts of Marolles". The association will dissolve around 1970. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
