It is a beautifully crafted neoclassical decor. Female figure dressed in a chiton belted under the chest and which reveals the right breast. The position of the feet, the twisting of the upper body and the clothing revealing its anatomy allow this figure to be interpreted as a dancing maenad. The statuette is inspired by a famous work by Lysippos, in bronze, created around 320 BC, representing the poet Prassilla, from Sicyone, dancing and playing the flute to accompany her Bacchic songs. It is perhaps the same statue that Pliny describes, Natural History, XXXIV, under the name of the "temulenta tibicina", the drunken aulos player.
