Extraordinary watercolor made in the 20th century, in French territory. Signed in the lower right area by the author. This slow-paced watercolor is a true haven of peace, thanks, above all, to the cold and temperate colors it has used. The composition is horizontal and open, allowing the viewer a wide view of the landscape. At the bottom, the river guides the eye towards the background, generating a spatial depth that leads the eye towards the architectural elements and the mountains on the horizon. As has already been said before, the author uses a palette of cold and soft tones, predominating blues and greens. In fact, a Fauvist resource is shown, giving the leaves of the trees a blue tone also present in the mountain in the background, discarding green for this purpose. The shadows are also blue, an equally post-impressionist resource. This resource creates great visual harmony, since many colors are dispensed with, always using the same ones. The watercolor technique allows you to use different intensities of pigment, achieving light and shadow effects. The layers of color, along with areas where the pigment is lighter, create an illusion of haze or distance in the landscape.
