About Pairpoint Silver Company:
Founding
In 1880, Thomas Pairpoint, a British silversmith, and Colonel Richard Briggs founded the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company to supply silver-plated metal mounts for Mount Washington Glass Company's glass.
Merger
In 1894, the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company merged with Mount Washington Glass Company and adopted the name Pairpoint Glass Company. The company became known for its silver-plated items, including glass lamps and quadruple-plate products.
Silverwork
Pairpoint was known for its large and important works, such as centerpieces and presentation vases. The company's silverwork was considered to be so close to ancient patterns that it was almost indistinguishable from the originals.
Trademarks
The Pairpoint trademark was registered two years after the Mt. Washington trademark. A silver mount with the Pairpoint mark indicates that the cut glass is from the home factory.
Legacy
Pairpoint Glass Company is considered one of America's longest-running luxury glass companies, operating from 1837 to 1957. less
