INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITY! This is a fantastic original Mid-Century oil on canvas by listed New York artist Dr. Patricia Hermine Sloane (1934-2001). Sloane was an American painter, author, and professor of Fine Arts. Her works have been displayed in some very prestigious institutions, including MoMA. She was best known for her Abstract Expressionism painting style with a close connection to the New York school movement. She was a member of the 10th Street Galleries (specifically the Camino Gallery) in New York City during the 1950s -1960s. Her works are hard to find and the few available have 5-figure asking prices - one is on 1stDibs for $14,000.
This is a great chance to own a very nice museum quality work by an extremely talented artist. This is one of her later works when she was moving towards geometric art and away from the abstract expressionism she embraced during the early part of her career. It is signed on the back stretcher bars and has been set in a simple black frame. It isn't dated but others in the collection with a similar style are dated in the 80s.
We bought a large chunk of her estate and we have both large and small pieces by Sloane -- some pieces as large as 8'. Please contact us if you are looking for a specific size, style, or color. We also have some personal items, original writings, and photographs.
