We’re thrilled to present this extraordinary piece of wall art by David P. Skeggs, a renowned artist from Bath, Ohio. This stunning concave round walnut disc features a beautifully glazed, three-dimensional pottery form in its center, combining organic textures with captivating depth. The piece originates from one of Akron, Ohio’s largest local art collections, recently released following the collector’s passing at the age of 93. Skeggs personally signed this piece on the front, and it’s tagged on the back; however, the title of the work is no longer discernible.
About David P. Skeggs
• Birthplace: Youngstown, Ohio, 1924
• Education: BA in Painting from Denison University; MA in Art History from the State University of Iowa; Special study under the legendary Hans Hofmann
• Career Highlights:
• Head of Art Department at Youngstown University
• Director of Sioux City Art Center (3 years)
• Designer for Garth Andrews Company
• Founding artist of Skeggs Design Studio, creating stoneware planters and home accessories in the early 1960s.
Awards & Honors:
• Purchase Award, State Teachers College (Indiana, PA), 1954
• First Award, Ohio Watercolor Society, 1951
