Bauhaus style tubular day bed or sofa with chrome plating in very good condition. Restored legs and spruce front paneling, completely sanded by hand, stained in dark walnut and coated with 4 layers of hard wax oil. Frame has been dismantled and thoroughly cleaned and paste polished, all screws are original. At some places light traces of use or chrome loss as seen on pictures, mainly at the sides bottom bars, copper shining through. Generally very good with some apparent patina. Original upholstery will need to be cleaned, no smell, at one corner light tear as seen on photo. Bedding frame water pressured. Originally designed and produced by Hynek Gottwald, leading producer of tubular furniture between two world wars in former Czechoslovakia.This has been the most popular sofa design produced by Kovona till late 50s. After nationalization of private businesess in 1948, Hynek Gottwald production facilities were incorporated under national Kovona brand. Another example would be Thonet and its factories becoming TON or Slezakovy Zavody and many more. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
