Beautiful watercolor on ivory-colored paper called Costume di Capracolla, realized by the Italian artist Michela De Vito in 1820 ca. Hand-titled "Costume di Capracolla" with a hand-written caption "Provincia contado del Molise nel Regno di Napoli" in black ink on the lower margin at the center. Hand-signed on the lower right margin. Very good conditions, except for some stains on the corners of the paper sheet. Very graceful watercolor artwork, valuable for both the delicacy of the drawing and the brightness of the many colors. This lovely Italian old master artwork shows a seated woman in typically Italian garments. Michela De Vito In the XIX century, Michela De Vito native of Abruzzi, worked in Naples and became a famous artist. She was maybe the daughter or sister of Camillo de Vito, a renowned painter of guaches above all of views and scenes of everyday life. Sometimes she is mistaken for Michele de Vito. “A refined painter, very skilled when it came to drawings, she had the characteristic to make her subject more gentle, compared to her male colleagues"; this is how De Rosa and Trastulli describe her. This artwork is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago by an artist who has died requires a licence for export regardless of the work’s market price.
